Google’s Pixel 9 launch also brought a new 45W USB-C charger

The 45W charger replaces Google’s 30W charger, which is no longer available on the company’s online store. It has a more rounded shape than the 30W option and repositions the USB-C port on the bottom of the charger instead of in line with the plug. This makes it easier to connect safely to a wall outlet, but it could cause some congestion on your power strip.

The increase in power to 45W means the new charger has more than enough power for the new Pixel 9 series. The maximum charging speed for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the slowest of the new models, is 21W, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL can charge at up to 37W. That’s also more than enough power for the Pixel Tablet and many Chromebooks, making the new charger compatible with more devices.

You can pre-order the Google 45W USB-C Power Charger from the Google online store for $29.99, with shipping expected as early as next week. You can also pre-order it from Best Buy for $19.88 if you want to save a tenner, but it joins a crowded market and you can already buy a much smaller 45W charger from companies like Anker for under $20.
