Help Scientists Find New Black Holes: Here’s How

OVERVIEW OF THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENTS

The Black Hole Finder app allows scientists to identify newly formed black holes.

The app uses real data from telescopes and other astronomical sources to help you identify potential black holes in the night sky.

The app lets you adjust settings to your location and time, and shows you where to look for black holes in the sky.

The Dutch Black Hole Consortium recently released an app called “Black Hole Finder” that allows you to identify newly formed black holes. For those who don’t know, the Dutch Black Hole Consortium is a group of over 30 scientists with an interdisciplinary program to search for black holes.

In this article, I will tell you how Black Hole Finder works, how to download it, and more.

How does Black Hole Finder work?

According to the description on the Play Store, the Black Hole Finder app uses real data from telescopes and other astronomical sources to help you identify potential black holes in the night sky. The app lets you adjust the settings to your location and time, and shows you where to look for black holes in the sky.

“When a gravitational wave signal is detected, BlackGEM telescopes in Chile rapidly scan the sky. Your job is to help identify potential kilonovae – short flashes of light caused by the merger of two neutron stars, resulting in the formation of a new black hole. By using the app, you are directly contributing to cutting-edge astronomical research!” – we read on the app’s website.

In a statement to Space.com, Steven Bloemen of Radboud University, project manager for the BlackGEM telescopes, said: “Humans are still much better at identifying patterns than our algorithms.” “By using the app, citizens around the world can help train our AI algorithms to tell real sources from fake ones and pinpoint the most interesting potential sources more quickly.”
