The Knights finished the 2023 season in second place in the state division.

Spalding has won the last two Class A championships in Maryland.

Hoban will play Spalding at Dowed Field in Akron at 7:00 p.m.

As always, the Knights are one of the most talented college football teams in the country. Arguably, their best player is linebacker Eli Lee, an Ohio State recruit who is ranked as the 19th-best player in Ohio by 247 Sports.

Tight end Tayte Crable is the 67th-ranked player in Ohio and is committed to Toledo.

Lee isn’t the only Ohio State player to commit to the Knights. Junior cornerback Elbert Hill is committed to the Buckeyes and is rated by 247 as the state’s top prospect in the 2026 class. Junior offensive lineman Sam Greer is rated the No. 6 player, wide receiver Payton Cook is rated the No. 11 player and linebacker Ace Brown is rated the No. 28 player in the 2026 class.

Malik Washington and the best players on the Spalding football team

Spalding is also rich.

Quarterback Malik Washington, who has committed to play at Maryland, is the No. 6 player in the state for the 2025 class, according to 247. Cornerback Jayden Shipps and defensive lineman Delmar White are both ranked in the top 50 players in Maryland and have committed to Division I schools.

This isn’t the only Hoban game FloSports will air this season. Hoban’s Week 2 game on Friday, Aug. 30 against Don Bosco Prep from New Jersey will also be available on the app.
