‘Ted Lasso’ Greenlit for Season 4

‘Ted Lasso’ Heads Towards Greenlight for Season 4 Diversity confirmed.

Warner Bros. Television has picked up options on original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift. Jason Sudeikis is believed to be involved in the revival in some capacity as an executive producer. Warner Bros. TV declined to comment.

Waddingham, Goldstein and Swift are known at this point because they are members of UK Equity and have different deals than the US SAG-AFTRA cast. Those negotiations will take place next.

Rumors of a Ted Lasso revival have been swirling since the series ended. In January, Warner Bros. TV CEO Channing Dungey suggested Diversity the possibility of continuing the series after the Season 3 finale which took place last year.

“I mean, you watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door there that could be opened back up if need be,” Dungey said. “I wouldn’t put a period at the end of that sentence yet. There’s still a lot of love for ‘Ted Lasso.’ And I think Apple still has a lot of enthusiasm for ‘Ted Lasso.’ If the opportunity arose, we’d love to come back and do more. … There’s always conversations, but nothing official.”

“Ted Lasso” follows Sudeikis as the titular character, an American football coach from Kansas who is hired to coach a professional football team in England despite having no experience coaching football. The film also stars Waddingham, Goldstein, Swift, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple and Phil Dunster.

The series was created by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Hunt and Joe Kelly and is based on the existing format and characters from NBC Sports.

Deadline was the first to report the news about “Ted Lasso.”
