NBA Writer and Former Executive Expects Cavaliers to Make Offseason Additions

During the offseason, the Cleveland Cavaliers have already made three important decisions regarding their roster.

Cleveland signs long-term contract extensions with three members of its Core Four Donovan Mitchell (three years, including player option in third year), Evan Mobley (five years) and Jarrett Allen (three years).

However, more than three months into the season, Wine and Gold have yet to add any players outside of the team.

However, an NBA journalist and former NBA executive predicts the Cavaliers will expand their roster before the start of the 2024-25 season.

Athletic Senior writer John Hollinger, who once served as vice president of basketball operations for the Memphis Grizzlies for seven seasons, recently wrote an article about the most underrated moves this NBA offseason, prefacing his list with a few notes that mentioned the Cavaliers and described the roster’s qualifications.

“I also didn’t include ‘real estate’ here, although it wouldn’t be hard to think of a few,” Hollinger wrote. “For example, I’m still waiting to find out what the New Orleans Pelicans’ likely Opening Day roster will look like — that can’t be it, can it? I’m also assuming the Cleveland Cavaliers will eventually sign another player or three and round out their roster.”

Cleveland was quite aggressive this past offseason, bringing in a slew of new signings. The team acquired Max Strus with Miami Heat on a signed and exchange agreement, signed Georges Niang AND You Jerome in free agency and acquired Damian Jones from Utah Jazz in a trade.

With a new head coach Kenny Atkinson in the lead and the future of swingman Isaac Okoro According to reports, it is not certain, but fans will have to find out if the team will sign someone outside of the team before the start of the next season in less than two months.
