During a speech at a ceremony organised by the Hare Krishna Movement, the Prime Minister said that the Bhagavad Gita is an inspiration to demolish illegal structures

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has backed the demolition of the convention centre co-owned by actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, saying it was appropriate in view of Lord Krishna’s teachings in the Bhagavad Gita.

He added that his government would not spare anyone who violated the rights to the lakes, no matter how influential he was.

While addressing a function of the Hare Krishna Movement, the Prime Minister said that the Bhagavad Gita is an inspiration to demolish illegal structures. He also said that Lord Krishna taught it for the good of people and that one should follow Dharma to defeat Adharma, even if it means a battle.

The Congress government, following the teachings of Lord Krishna, has undertaken the demolition of illegal structures constructed at the level of a full reservoir by HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection).

“Since the owners of these houses are influential people, there is a lot of pressure, but that is a matter for the future. According to Lord Sri Krishna, Dharma has to prevail and Adharma has to be defeated,” CM Reddy was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The N-Convention Centre, which was demolished by HYDRAA officials on Saturday, was allegedly built on occupied land that is part of the Tammidikunta Lake. The case is currently pending in court, which has ordered a stay on the demolition.

Actor Nagarjuna strongly condemned the move and said it was “illegal”. He also claimed that he would demolish the structure himself if the court ruled against him.

According to a government announcement, N-Convention is being built in the above-ground (FTL)/buffer zone and does not have a building permit.
