Lam Dong asked to focus on three breakthrough measures for rapid and sustainable growth

The government leader held a working meeting with the Standing Council of the Provincial Party Committee on August 25.

Premier Chinh said that in addition to effectively implementing the three breakthrough achievements of the 13th National Party Congress, Lam Dong should pay more attention to promoting the digital economy, green economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, sharing economy and night economy, as well as responding to climate change and developing the cultural and entertainment industry.

At the same time, the province should develop mechanisms and strategies to mobilize all social resources for rapid and sustainable development, especially in the expansion of the infrastructure system for transportation, health care, education and the promotion of culture, he added.

The Prime Minister praised the province’s achievements over the years.

Last year, Lam Dong achieved 14 of the 18 socio-economic goals set for the year, achieving a GDP growth rate of 5.63% and a GDP scale of VND116 trillion (USD4.64 billion), ranking 45th out of 63 localities nationwide.

Its GDP per capita reached VND86 million, the highest among regional cities. Lam Dong’s state budget revenue reached more than VND13 trillion in 2023 and almost VND7.9 trillion in the first seven months of this year. The poverty rate by multidimensional standards fell to 3.16%.

In 2023, the province welcomed 8.65 million tourists, and in the first seven months of 2024, the number reached 940,000. Lam Dong is a leading location in the field of high-tech agriculture.

Premier Chinh emphasized that Lam Dong has an important strategic position in terms of economy, society, security and defense. It is a commercial center, a connecting point for three regions: Central Highlands, Southeast and Central Coastal, bordering seven provinces and connecting with major domestic and international cities by air.

He stressed that Lam Dong is also the owner of many valuable cultural assets of 47 ethnic groups and a large workforce.

However, he believed that the province’s economic growth did not yet match its great potential.

He asked Lam Dong to optimise human resources, cultural values, history and traditions, putting people at the centre of socio-economic development while strengthening regional links and establishing supply chains.

He stressed that the city should continue to improve its investment and business environment, mobilize all resources for development, restructure the agricultural sector, stimulate the growth of the forestry sector, develop the production and processing sector and transform tourism into a leading sector of the economy.

The Prime Minister reminded Lam Dong that he should focus on maintaining the cultural identity of local ethnic minority groups, ensuring security, order, protecting the environment and responding to climate change.

Chinh asked Lam Dong to pay more attention to building the Party and the political system, fighting corruption and making good preparations for holding Party congresses at all levels.

On the same day, Prime Minister Chinh witnessed the donation of VND41 billion by organizations and enterprises for a program to build and renovate houses for the needy in Lam Dong.

Premier Chinh, who is also chairman of the National Council for Competition and Praise, said the council initiated a movement of “the whole country joining forces to ensure that no one has to live in temporary and degraded housing” on April 13, 2024, with the aim of ensuring that everyone can enjoy stable homes by the end of 2025.

Lam Dong needs about VND107 billion to build and renovate houses for 1,970 poor households.

Also on August 25, Prime Minister Chinh and his entourage visited the heroic Vietnamese mother Tran Thi Nhung in District 9 of Da Lat city.

He appealed to local authorities to continue to take care of the material and spiritual lives of the families of political beneficiaries and people who have served the nation, providing them with at least the same living conditions as in their neighbourhood.
