OnePlus flagships hit by ‘dead phone’ glitch; multiple users report issue

Many OnePlus smartphone users, especially those with older flagship models like the OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 9 Pro, are facing a serious problem: their phones are suddenly unusable. Disappointed users have taken to OnePlus community forums and social media to vent their concerns about their devices, which often display a black screen and refuse to turn on.

The common denominator among these complaints is a reported motherboard failure. When users went to get their phones repaired, they were told the motherboard was damaged. This issue seems to be affecting a lot of people, as highlighted in a post by X from OnePlus Club, which shared a number of similar reports.

One user’s story stands out. This person was a loyal OnePlus fan, owning and enjoying models like the OnePlus 1, 2, 5, and 7. Initially, they were happy with their OnePlus 10 Pro, which they purchased in December 2022. However, over time, the phone began to lag and overheat. Despite attempts to fix these issues with app tweaks and better charging practices, the phone’s performance continued to deteriorate. Eventually, the device suffered a motherboard failure, rendering it completely unusable.

This user’s experience reflects a broader problem among OnePlus customers, who are currently having to deal with their phones unexpectedly failing without receiving clear guidance or solutions from the company.

This situation is more than just an inconvenience; it damages OnePlus’ reputation for reliable and efficient devices. While affected users wait for a response or repair from OnePlus, they have to deal with the consequences of these sudden device failures by seeking help from repair shops and customer service.
