About Sunny

In Sunny, Jones plays Suzie, an AMERICAN WOMAN living in Kyoto, Japan, whose life is turned upside down when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As a “solace,” she is given Sunny, one of a new class of domestic robots manufactured by her husband’s electronics company. Although Suzie initially resents Sunny’s attempts to fill the void in her life, they gradually develop an unlikely friendship, and together they discover the dark truth about what really happened to Suzie’s family, dangerously entangled in a world Suzie never knew existed.

Produced for Apple TV+ by A24, “Sunny” is written and executive produced by KATIE Robbins, through her Babka Pictures banner. Lucy Tcherniak is an executive producer for Poppycock Pictures. A24 and Jones are also executive producers. The series is based on the book “The Dark Manual” by award-winning Irish writer based in Japan, Colin O’Sullivan.
