Salesforce CFO to leave after successor chosen

Brief description of the dive:

  • Salesforce Chief Financial Officer Amy Weaver plans to leave her position after less than four years, the software-as-a-service company said Wednesday.
  • Weaver will remain as CFO until his successor is named, and will then become an advisor to the company, Salesforce said in a press release announcing its second-quarter fiscal 2025 financial results.
  • “This feels like the right time for me to focus on a smooth transition to a new CFO, making sure I have time to relax and unwind, and to pursue new adventures,” Weaver said during Wednesday’s earnings conference call.

Diving Insight:

The news was announced with much enthusiasm by the CFO as San Francisco, California-based Salesforce also reported that its total revenue rose to $9.3 billion in the latest quarter ended July 31, up 8% compared to the same period a year earlier.

The results reflect the company’s focus on profitable growth and a disciplined investment strategy, Weaver said during an earnings conference call.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff credited Weaver with: led the company’s financial transformation during her tenure. “Salesforce is better positioned today than it has ever been, with a phenomenal growth platform,” he said during the company’s earnings conference call.

In a statement Wednesday, he said the company “is grateful that Amy’s transition period will allow us to conduct a thoughtful search for our next CFO, and we expect it to be a smooth transition.”

Weaver has agreed to continue serving as special advisor to the CEO through April 2026, helping with “transition of responsibilities, integration and transaction activities, transformation projects and client matters,” the company, which provides cloud-based customer relationship management software, said in a securities filing.

Weaver, who spent more than a decade at Salesforce, took over the company’s finance helm in February 2021, according to her LinkedIn page. She previously held other leadership roles at the company, including chief legal officer.
