Apple to launch Find My in South Korea in spring 2025

Apple has announced that it will bring its “Find My” network to South Korea in spring 2025, after finally clearing South Korean regulatory hurdles. Apple’s full range of “Find My” services will be available to users in the country for the first time. Users will be able to track family members, their devices and personal belongings.

Using the Find My network, users will be able to locate their iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and other Apple devices, as well as AirTag-connected devices and some third-party tracking devices, while enjoying privacy protection.

Apple previously said it didn’t launch the Find My app in Asia because local regulations prevented high-accuracy mapping data from being exported outside of its borders. However, Korea also has strict privacy laws that the company could run afoul of.

Last July, a petition on the Korea National Assembly Electronic Petition website called for Apple’s ‌Find My‌ service to be introduced in the country, gathering over 9,000 signatures. The petition reflected the frustration of Korean users, as well as users abroad, who had lost their devices and were unable to find them due to the lack of Find My.

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has apparently responded positively to the petition, with its acting chairman Kim Tae-gyu expressing support for the introduction of the “Find My” service in South Korea. The KCC is also in talks with Apple to debut the service.
