Feinberg’s 2025 Oscar Nomination Predictions

Note from Scott: It’s hard to believe, but another awards season is here! It unofficially kicked off, as it always does, with the Venice and Telluride Film Festivals over Labor Day weekend. I was on hand at the latter, where I watched and analyzed several films; I interviewed the people behind three of the most talked-about, Student, Mary AND Emilia Perezand I analyzed the meaning of all this with my colleague Rebecca Keegan. Now the awards industry complex has escaped the sweltering heat of Los Angeles and moved north to Toronto. I’ll be here for the next week to screen films, analyze their prospects, and on Sunday moderate the TIFF Visionaries talks with Alfonso Cuaron (whose new Apple TV+ limited series Reservation displayed in Telluride and is displayed here) and Malala Yousafzai (executive producer of the Apple TV+ documentary The Last of the Women of the Sea) — I hope you’ll join us!
