SAN FRANCISCOCity officials announced major updates to SF311, the official non-emergency reporting app for the City and County of San Francisco. For the first time, the app is now available in Chinese, Spanish and Filipino.

New multilingual functionality allows Chinese, Spanish and Filipino speakers to quickly and easily request city services such as street cleaning, graffiti removal and sidewalk maintenance with just a few taps.

The SF311 app is now available for download on Android and iPhone in Chinese, Spanish, Filipino and English – the four most spoken languages in San Francisco. The app will automatically detect the phone’s language.

The updated app is one way the city is trying to make services more accessible to immigrants and San Francisco residents with limited English proficiency. SF311 also provides live telephone assistance in more than 160 languages.

Last year, SF311 received more than 800,000 requests for services from the San Francisco community. More than half of those requests were submitted through online self-service or the 311 mobile app.

“Now, users from China, Spain and the Philippines can submit service requests, upload photos and receive updates in their native language in seconds,” Nancy Alfaro, director of The City’s 311 Customer Service Center, said during a news conference Thursday.

SF311 is San Francisco’s customer service center, available 365 days a year to residents, tourists and businesses seeking city information or services.
