This is reportedly the first time that LG products will be available for purchase directly by consumers rather than through a third-party retailer.

“We are extremely proud to support a brand of LG’s calibre in its first e-commerce venture. Successful e-commerce is built on trust and LG was clear that they needed a partner with strong technical skills and experience, particularly with large corporate brands. Nowhere is this more important than in the area of payments,” says David Adams, Managing Director, Southern Africa, Network International.

“LG is one of the most loved and trusted brands in home appliances. Our new e-commerce store will give customers faster access to our most popular products, with promotions, trials and special offers, while also enabling a more personalized shopping experience. We wanted a partner who could offer strategic guidance and create custom solutions, which is why we partnered with Payfast by Network,” says Shaista Naidoo, LG Direct Customer Experience.

LG Electronics to launch e-commerce store in South Africa

According to Payfast’s 2023 State of Pay report, e-commerce has seen rapid local growth over the past few years, with 38% of merchants reporting an increase in online sales between 2022 and 2023.

E-commerce is now a significant part of shoppers’ routines, allowing for a more personalized user experience. Network International’s payment gateway solution, Payfast, provides secure data transmission and allows merchants to control the checkout process, user experience and branding, which is often a requirement for corporate brands.

E-commerce payment platform Payfast changes name to Payfast by Network

“The network aims to develop a digital payments ecosystem in South Africa to support global and local brands to connect with consumers safely and securely, helping them operate at scale. Trust and reliability are essential elements of a healthy digital payments sector, which in turn supports local business growth,” says Adams.

Payfast by Network is an online payments solution from Network International. Earlier this year, Payfast changed its name to Network International – laying the foundation for strategic international partnerships aimed at introducing innovative payment products and driving financial inclusion.
