Axis receives SOC 2 certification for Axis Cloud Connect, AXIS Device Manager

CHELMSFORD, Mass. — Axis Communications announced it has achieved System and Organization Controls (SOC 2) Type 1 attestation for its cloud-based solutions, Axis Cloud Connect and AXIS Device Manager Extend.

The audit, conducted by an independent third-party auditor, confirms that Axis has implemented robust cloud security controls and practices that meet rigorous criteria set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), including data security, availability, confidentiality, processing integrity, and privacy. Axis will continue to monitor the performance of these controls over time, with the goal of completing Type 2 attestation within the next six months.

Axis communication“SOC 2 is a voluntary but important compliance that validates our work and lets our partners and customers know how seriously we take cloud security,” said Patrik Pettersson, Senior Manager, Future Business and Strategic Initiatives at Axis Communications. “The attestation specifically evaluates the design of security controls, ensuring that our cloud-based solutions and services, such as Axis Cloud Connect, meet the highest standards. A strong SOC 2 report demonstrates our commitment to cybersecurity, giving our customers and partners peace of mind that their data is protected using globally recognized best practices in data management and cybersecurity.”

Axis Cloud Connect is an open, cloud-based platform designed to provide more secure, scalable and flexible security solutions. Launched in April 2024, the platform works with Axis devices to enable a range of managed services from Axis and its partners that support system and device management, facilitate video and data delivery and meet high cybersecurity requirements.

Designed to work with distribution channels, Axis Cloud Connect and Axis’ offerings based on this platform not only provide solutions and services to system integrators and their customers, but also enable Axis partners to develop their own cloud-based solutions.

With a focus on cybersecurity, flexibility and scalability, Axis sought SOC 2 Type 1 certification for AXIS Device Manager Extend: a unified interface for proactive device and site management from anywhere. Powered by Axis Cloud Connect, AXIS Device Manager Extend provides instant visibility into data, enabling efficient asset management and tracking of devices throughout their lifecycle with real-time product information, device configuration, software and firmware updates and video analytics management.

Both AXIS Device Manager Extend and Axis Cloud Connect have met the rigorous Type 1 requirements, demonstrating proper design of security controls and point-in-time functionality. Within the next six months, Axis expects to achieve Type 2 compliance for Axis Cloud Connect and AXIS Device Manager Extend, demonstrating their effective performance over the longer term. As more and more companies adopt cloud computing and hybrid cloud environments, it is important for vendors to demonstrate that cloud security is a priority.

Because SOC 2 is the most widely recognized cloud security framework in the U.S., it allows organizations to quickly and easily assess the security capabilities of potential partners or vendors. Axis’ strong SOC 2 Type 1 attestation and current Type 2 audit underscore the company’s commitment to protecting customers’ devices and data, no matter where they live.

“Axis Cloud Connect and AXIS Device Manager Extend were built with solid security measures, so we were already well-prepared to meet most of the SOC 2 criteria,” noted Wayne Dorris, CISSP, Cybersecurity Program Manager at Axis Communications. “At Axis, we consider certifications, industry standards, and of course compliance measures as fundamental benchmarks to build upon. We strive for the highest level of security because the stakes are high and trust is essential to success. From AICPA SOC 2 validation to our recent NIST FIPS 140-3 certification, we are pleased to continue to provide our customers with market-leading solutions that not only prioritize innovation and performance, but also cybersecurity.”
