Duchess Kate’s future appearances: Where you’ll likely see her next

The year 2024 has been marked by health struggles for Duchess Kate. In January, she stepped back from public life to undergo abdominal surgery, which led to the announcement in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy.

The princess has made only two official public appearances this year, both taking place in the summer.

In June, Kate attended the Trooping the Colour celebrations to mark King Charles III’s official birthday in London, marking her first public appearance of the year and her first since announcing she had cancer.

The second appearance was in July when, as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Kate attended the men’s singles final at Wimbledon along with her daughter, Princess Charlotte, and sister Pippa Matthews.

Ahead of her June performance, Kate gave an update on her chemotherapy treatment, saying that while it would continue for a few months, she wasn’t “out of the woods” yet. She said she hoped to start taking on more work from home alongside her performances.

On September 9, Kate posted a second, more detailed update, happily explaining that she had completed her course of treatment and was now focused on remaining “cancer free.”

Fans eager to see more of Kate as she begins to make further progress in her recovery were told she “looks forward to getting back to work and making some public appearances in the coming months.”

While any minor events or engagements will likely be announced shortly to give Kate time to assess her feelings, there are two major royal events coming up soon that fans will likely see the princess attend.

Remembrance Sunday

Every November, members of the British Royal Family come together with representatives from the Government and Armed Forces to honour and pay tribute to the men and women who have lost their lives serving their country on active duty.

Remembrance Sunday is celebrated on the second Sunday of November in the UK, close to Armistice Day (11 November), which marked the end of fighting in World War I.

The day is marked in London with a special ceremony at the national war memorial in Whitehall, known as the Cenotaph. Charles, Prince William, Princess Anne and Prince Edward lay wreaths of poppies at the base of the Cenotaph during a religious service, along with members of the government and senior military officials.

Queen Camilla, Kate and other royal women and laypeople watch the events from the balconies of nearby government buildings.

Duchess Kate has attended these events throughout her marriage and they are one of the highlights of the royal calendar.

Kate will reportedly take part in this year’s celebrations.

Carols

Another important event of the royal ceremony is the annual Christmas carol service, held in December at Westminster Abbey.

Kate founded the event in 2021 to bring people together and recognise those who have contributed to the nation’s life during the COVID pandemic.

The service included musical performances and readings by celebrities. The event was filmed and broadcast on Christmas Eve in the UK.

The service has been attended by several members of the extended royal family over the past three years. In 2022, the event was dedicated to the memory of Queen Elizabeth II and was attended by Charles and Camilla.

The event is expected to take place this year, with Kate continuing to serve as the initiator of the theme and direction of the event.
