Renewable fuels | Scania Middle East

A hybrid combines an electric drive system with a traditional combustion engine. This significantly reduces fuel consumption, which in turn leads to lower CO2 emissions. It also reduces noise, which can give a hybrid vehicle special benefits, such as being allowed to drive in cities early in the morning, late in the evening or at night.

Off-peak deliveries provide a number of other benefits, such as increased efficiency, reduced driving times, better working conditions for drivers, and improved vehicle utilisation.

The plug-in version enables the working day to start in electric mode – fully charged. Then, free charging can also be carried out during a driver change, e.g. during a stop for loading or unloading, or during a rest.

Hybrids typically offer fuel savings of 15-40%, depending on specification and operation. This of course saves money, but also reduces CO2 emissions. By using a renewable fuel such as biodiesel/FAME or HVO, CO2 savings will be even greater, even over 90%*, compared to running on fossil diesel.

*Reduction in CO2 emissions compared to diesel, from source to wheel.
