Bankers’ working hours are still pretty bad

I think the old standard for investment banking analyst hours was “around 100 hours a week, unless you need to work more,” and the new standard is “80 hours a week, unless you need to work more”:

Isn’t that still the case? sound bad? Like an 80-hour work week is pretty long, and when you phrase it that way — “80 hours a week unless there’s a current contract” — it suggests that it’s floornot a hat. If there is nothing particularly urgent to do, you can come in at 9 a.m. and leave at midnight from Monday to Friday and work only one afternoon at the weekend, but of course, if you have a contract, you will have to work more. Eighty hours a week is a lot of work when it is is not something urgent.
