Julie Bowen Says She Cried in ‘Happy Gilmore’ Trailer: ‘I Felt Uncomfortable’

Julia Bowen is excited to reprise her role as Virginia Venit in the upcoming film Happy Gilmore 2However, she admitted that there was one thing about the original film that made her feel “uncomfortable.”

Julie, 54, appeared on Today with Hoda and Jenna on Thursday, September 12, to discuss some of her upcoming projects. She said Happy Gilmore was “the first movie I ever did.” It’s safe to say her career took off after the sports comedy, but she always looks back on her time on set.

“I was really uncomfortable with my hair. Really uncomfortable with it. I remember crying in the trailer, like, ‘Nobody’s going to see this, it’s okay.’ I was like, ‘Nobody’s going to see this? This is the only movie my dad watches over and over again!'” she said Hoda Kotb AND Jenna Bush Hagerwho were fascinated by her stories from the set.

Julie shared some of the other stars who will be appearing in Happy Gilmore 2 with her and Adam Sandlerwho originally shared the screen in the 1996 film. Travis Kelce AND Bad Bunny will appear in the second part of the film.

This Modern family The actress also revealed that her character and Adam’s character will still be together in the sequel.

“Yeah, we’re very much together,” she said when Jenna, 42, asked about the topic. Jenna then responded, “Oh, you just gave us a spoiler alert!”

“Is that bad? No. That’s… You can say that… I think I have the right to say that!” Julie said.

On September 9, Netflix posted on X: “Happy Gilmore 2 is officially in production.” The comments section below the post exploded with excited comments from fans of the original film.

One wrote, “This will be the movie of the year when it’s released,” while another said, “We hope the sequel captures the same magic and humor that made the first part a classic!”

Another commented: “Fantastic to see a beloved character return.”

It seems that many are hoping that the sequel will be as entertaining as the first part, which was a commercial success and won an MTV Movie Award for Best Fight between Bob Barker and Adam.

On the subject Happy GilmoreJulie also reminisced about working for the late Barker and why it was one of her favorite parts of the film.

“That was one of my favorite scenes. In that scene, he has to say, ‘The price is bad, (female dog)!’ and he said he didn’t want to say it because he’s such a gentleman,” she recalled. “But they shot it for hours and hours on this beautiful golf course in Vancouver. And at the end of the day, he’s so pumped. He says, ‘The price is bad, (female dog)!’ It was great.”
