Osimhen removes traces of Napoli from profile X

Victor Osimhen is back in the spotlight after removing all references to his parent team, Napoli, from his social media profile and instead featuring Galatasaray photos and colours.

Osimhen continues to make headlines as he awaits his Galatasaray debut following the international break, and his latest change to X’s account has been quite noticeable.

Six days ago, an X user called Pink Tony asked Osimhen to change his bio after the striker posted a photo of himself in his new number 45 shirt with his daughter at Rams Park Arena – the home ground of the Turkish giants.

Several X users disagreed with Pink Tony that the Eagles striker could not change his description because he was still under contract with Napoli.

The former Lille player has changed his biography, removing all traces of Napoli from his profiles and proudly adorning them with the colours of the Turkish giants.

Osimhen’s updated bio now reads: “Professional Footballer for Galatasaray and Super Eagles of Nigeria” and is accompanied by a new photo of the footballer whose face has been cut out of a Galatasaray shirt.

His image on the banner shows him wearing the number 45 shirt and holding his daughter in his arms, symbolizing a new chapter in his career.

Osimhen’s new move has sparked discussion among many X users who have expressed their desire for him to make his debut for Galatasaray soon.

The former Sporting Charleroi man has ended a long summer transfer saga by joining the Turkish side on loan from Napoli in the final hours of the transfer window.

His transfer and eventual departure from Italy were among the most high-profile incidents at the time, with the player asking to leave Napoli despite being due to sign a new contract in December 2023.

Despite helping Napoli win their first Scudetto in more than three decades two seasons ago, scoring 26 goals and winning the Serie A top scorer award, Osimhen fell out with some of the club’s fans last term, prompting the 25-year-old to leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Relations between the two sides quickly soured when the Nigerian asked to leave the club, resulting in him not featuring in pre-season or the first three Serie A matches of the new season, with new manager Antonio Conte reiterating that the reigning African Footballer of the Year title was not in their plans.

Osimhen is expected to play his first match for Galatasaray on September 15 when they face Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig.
