iPhones running iOS 18 will soon support Truecaller ID more efficiently: CEO Alan Mamed

Apple iOS 18 users will soon be able to use Truecaller’s free caller ID service, which Android users have been using for years. Truecaller, the free caller ID service used by millions of people around the world, will soon work as intended on iPhones. The app has been available on Apple devices for a while, but its integration hasn’t been as seamless as it has been on Android phones. On iOS, Truecaller doesn’t support real-time caller ID, meaning users have to manually open the app to identify incoming calls. However, with the release of iOS 18, Apple’s new API could enable an overlay on the call screen, potentially solving this limitation.

The iPhone maker recently updated its iOS 18 feature release documentation to say that “new APIs enable developers like Truecaller to retrieve information from their servers and provide live caller ID for incoming calls in a privacy-preserving manner.”

Truecaller’s Journey

Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi took to X to announce the news, saying that “while things have been working pretty well for the past 2 years, this time it will be exactly as you would expect from Truecaller, from start to finish.”

Co-founder Nami Zarringhalam also tweeted: “It’s been 9 years of grinding and sometimes losing faith. But soon everyone will be able to experience a smartphone in a way we’ve always known is safe and trustworthy.”

Truecaller launched a web client earlier this year, allowing users to search for unknown numbers and receive real-time call alert notifications. The company has also embraced the AI trend, introducing a new tool designed to detect and block spam calls.
