Goonies Cast Says Rumored Sequel Won’t Happen

Since Beetle juice Beetle juice is out and making money, we’ll probably see sequels to the more beloved ’80s movies soon (or rather, more of them will end up in the pile). If you’re thinking Goonies was supposed to be one of them, it looks like you should put your hopes elsewhere.

Earlier this week, a rumor surfaced that Warner Bros. was planning to launch a new film studio. Goonies movie. It sounded somewhat official thanks to claims that the original cast would be returning, Steven Spielberg (who wrote the story for the first film) would be directing, and this potential film was set to be released in 2026 or 2027. Things were made even worse by Sean Astin — or rather, whoever manages his social media — seemingly lending him support. But that won’t be the case, as fellow original stars Corey Feldman and Martha Plimpton have since denied the rumor hardFeldman said he had “no information” about plans for a sequel, while Plimpton was more direct.

“There aren’t Goonies 2 script, there’s no one there. Spielberg’s not directing, it’s not real,” she said on Instagram. What IS real is CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION AND VOTE!!!!”

Just like with Beetlejuice 2, Over the years, there have been many rumors and hopes for a new one Goonies film is taking shape. After the cast reunited for a virtual fundraiser to fight COVID-19 in 2020, Spieberg admitted that he discussed potential sequel ideas with co-writer Chris Columbus, the late director Richard Donner and producer Lauren Shuler Donner, but they never came to any solid conclusions. Funnily enough, there’s a show about this Goonies a film in preparation called Our time, But when it comes to an actual sequel, it looks like those dreams will have to remain dreams.
