Apple may plan to introduce M4-based Macs ‘in the coming weeks’

Apple recently launched the iPhone 16 series, and now the tech giant will focus on its next big event. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to launch new Macintosh at an event that will likely take place in the coming weeks.
Apple to Launch AI-Enabled Macs, Gurman Says M4 chips and Apple Intelligence. He also said that new, lower-end iPads could be unveiled at the event.

Here are the devices that could be launched next:

Apple aims to improve sluggish computer sales by revamping its entire Mac line and introducing a new family of proprietary processors.

  • J604, which could be a low-end 14-inch monitor MacBook Pro with M4 processor.
  • J614 and J616: new, high-end 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros, each with two professional-class M4 processor options.
  • J623: The new iMac with the M4 processor.
  • J773: An updated, smaller Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro processors.

“I’m told that most of these Macs are already shipping from the factories (apart from a few more expensive MacBook Pros and a Mac mini with the M4 Pro) and are ready to go to market now,” Gurman added.
Gurman previously said the M4 MacBook Air (J713 and J715) are due in the first quarter of 2025, while the new Mac Studio (J575) will arrive in the middle of next year. The Mac Pro (J704) is expected to launch before the end of 2025.
Gurman also said the new chip will come in at least three main variants, “and Apple intends to update every Mac model with it,” citing people familiar with the matter.
It’s worth noting that Apple already introduced M4 chips in the iPad Pro earlier this year. According to Apple, the M4 chip is up to 1.5x faster than the M2 in terms of CPU performance and 4x faster in terms of professional rendering performance.
