DHL eCommerce and Poste Italiane launch Locker Italia

DHL eCommerce and Poste Italiane announced the creation of Locker Italia, a joint venture aimed at creating a modern and convenient network of parcel lockers in Italy.

The milestone comes a year after DHL Group and Poste Italiane entered into a strategic partnership in the Italian and international parcel market, according to a DHL official statement. “The launch event took place on September 16 in Rome, where the first Locker Italia parcel locker was officially presented. In the near future, 10,000 lockers with user-friendly interfaces will be strategically placed in key locations across the country. Locker Italia takes a vendor-neutral approach, offering maximum convenience to senders and recipients.”

The release added that the joint venture, headed by Enrico Rosina, CEO of Locker Italia, aims to create a smooth and efficient working environment, regardless of the carrier.

“This launch marks an important milestone in the strategic partnership between DHL Group and Poste Italiane,” says Pablo Ciano, CEO of DHL eCommerce. “Since April, we have been seamlessly integrating our DHL eCommerce parcel volumes into the extensive Poste Italiane network. With the introduction of Locker Italia, our joint venture, we are introducing a new level of convenience and security in parcel delivery and shipping for both shippers and customers. Our goal with this vendor-neutral network is to become the leading locker provider in the Italian market.”

Massimo Rosini, Head of Mail, Parcel and Distribution, Poste Italiane Group, adds: “With Locker Italia, we are contributing to the further development of the e-commerce market. We offer online shoppers an additional solution to manage their deliveries. Locker Italia represents technological innovation, security, domestic service and sustainability. We will place lockers in central and commercial areas of cities, and also provide assistance in the digital empowerment of citizens who may be less familiar with digital technologies.”

DHL eCommerce supports Poste Italiane by connecting the company to its European network. In turn, Poste Italiane delivers parcels from DHL eCommerce and DHL Parcel Germany throughout Italy, the release added.
