Amazon appoints veteran Samir Kumar as India chief after Manish Tiwary’s departure

After Manish Tiwary resigned from his position to explore opportunities, e-commerce giant Amazon has named its veteran Samir Kumar as its new country director

Kumar was part of the original team that planned and launched Amazon India in 2013.

Kumar’s extensive experience at Amazon allows him to lead the company’s growth in one of its key markets, India.

Days after Manish Tiwary he went down E-commerce giant Amazon has named its veteran Samir Kumar as its new country director for India to explore growth opportunities.

Reuters reported that Kumar will take over operational responsibilities in India from October 1 and will work closely with Tiwary during the transition period.

With over two decades of experience at Amazon, Kumar was part of the original team that planned and launched Amazon India in 2013. In addition to his new role in India, he will continue to lead Amazon’s consumer business in the Middle East, South Africa and Turkey.

As part of this leadership change, Kumar will oversee the current leadership team in India, Saurabh Srivastava (Categories), Harsh Goyal (Daily Essentials), Amit Nanda (Marketplace) and Aastha Jain (Growth Initiatives) will now report to Samir. Additionally, Kishore Thota (Emerging Markets Shopping Experience) will report directly to Amit Nanda.
