Meta faces tough EU antitrust fine over classifieds practices: Report

Meta Platforms Inc. faces hefty EU fine for alleged attempts to dominate classifieds market Financial Times it said on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

EU regulators will allege that Facebook’s parent company bundles its free Marketplace services with the social network in a bid to weaken its rivals, the newspaper reported.

The bloc’s decision could come as early as next month, the report said, and would mark one of the last investigations overseen by outgoing EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager.

Meta and the block did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
