Small businesses to generate 35 million job applications by August 2024: Report – SME News

As per the report, small and medium enterprises generated over 35 million job applications in the first eight months of this year, led by rising demand in key sectors like BFSI, BPO and hospitality.

According to job search and networking platform apna.co, the growth reflects rising demand for key positions such as sales and marketing managers, accounting technicians, telemarketers, back-office managers and business development associates.

“SMBs and MSMEs employ over 110 million people and their success is critical to our path to achieving the $5 trillion economic goal. As the backbone of our economy, these sectors are poised for significant growth and the demand for manpower is set to grow at the same pace,” said Nirmit Parikh, Founder and CEO, apna.co.

As per apna.co, over 55 per cent of all job applications for SME positions came from second- and third-tier cities like Jaipur, Indore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kochi and Bhubaneswar.

As businesses expand in these cities, the talent pool grows to meet demand, creating a win-win ecosystem for employers and job seekers.

Of the 35 million job applications registered on the platform, 14 million came from women, a significant 30 percent increase compared to the previous year and underlining the growing participation of women in various professional roles, from finance and accounting to marketing and graphic design, it added.

apna.co has over 50 million users in over 890 cities and over 700,000 employers on the platform.
