The ninth five-year plan, being developed by the Department of General Economy of the Planning Ministry, was to come into effect on July 25, 2025 and last until June 2030.

A concept paper titled “Bangladesh Ninth Five-Year Plan (July 2025–June 2030): Sustainable and Equitable Growth for Upper Middle-Income Populations” was prepared for the plan.

The concept paper identifies 20 key development sectors, including urbanization, agriculture, the financial sector, poverty reduction and investment growth, and the development of the education and health sectors.
