Winnipeg police searching for Honda in homicide investigation

Investigators are searching for a black Honda Civic they believe may be connected to the killing of a 22-year-old Ontario man whose body was found earlier this month in a Winnipeg home.

The Winnipeg Police Service asked for help Thursday in locating a black 2018 Honda Civic with Manitoba licence plates LLN113.

Police note that the license plates may have been removed or altered.

Police warn that if the vehicle is found, do not touch it. Contact the Major Crimes Unit immediately at 204-986-6219, or 204-986-6033 if it is after hours.

Officers say the vehicle is connected to a homicide investigation conducted earlier this month, but declined to provide details.

On Sept. 10, officers responded to a missing man in the 300 block of Bridge Lake Drive. He was believed to have been abducted the day before.

The main crimes were taken over by the investigation.

Days later, officers found a man dead in a home in the 100 block of Bristol Avenue.

He has been identified as 22-year-old Zeyad Shammo of Ontario.

His family has been notified.

Police ruled the death a homicide. Two suspects known to Shammo were arrested.

Two 26-year-old Winnipeg men have been charged with several offences, including first-degree murder, kidnapping and extortion.

None of the charges have yet been heard by a court.
