House Republicans’ Government Funding Bill Fails, What’s Next? Cramer Explains

WASHINGTON (KFYR) – Congress is nearly running out of time to come up with a plan to fund the government. The House on Wednesday rejected a Republican bill to avoid a shutdown.

Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., said another version or two of the bill will come out before the end of next week. He said he gives House Speaker Johnson credit for trying to pass a continuing resolution with the SAVE Act attached to it. Cramer said Johnson did not have the votes to pass the bill.

“Now we can start working on realistic outcomes and more realistic legislation. I’m sure he’ll take a more modest approach this week, we’ll see what happens. If the House can’t come up with legislation by the end of this week that they can pass, we’ll do it next week,” Cramer said.

Cramer believes the Senate will soon need to vote on the House bill, but the Senate could create its own bill if necessary.
