Sydney University President Mark Scott admits he let down Jewish students

The head of the University of Sydney, Mark Scott, apologised to Jewish students on Friday for the “searing” anti-Semitism they experienced on campus, and admitted for the first time that he and the university had failed to keep them safe.

Professor Scott’s apology came after he and six other vice-chancellors and sector leaders appeared before a Senate committee of inquiry into whether anti-Jewish sentiment may have taken root on their campuses and flared up in response to Israeli military action in Gaza.
