Pixel Buds app appears in Pixel Launcher after update

On Pixel phones, Google previously hid the Pixel Buds app display from the launcher, but that change has now been reversed.

Version 1.0.673625792 of the Pixel Buds companion app adds support for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 ahead of its launch next week. This update now also brings the Pixel Buds app, which I think has a pretty icon, to the Pixel Launcher.

This lets you place it on your Pixel’s home screen for quick access to your Pixel Buds settings, rather than having a “widget”/shortcut that shows a live image of your buds (in the appropriate color) placed in the bottom right corner.

On some people’s home screens, this shortcut seems a bit out of place. My preferred workaround is to use the Battery widget, which opens these settings directly, or to use the Bluetooth Quick Settings Tile.

Pixel Buds app icon has never been hidden on other Android devices, only Google. Pixel Buds 1.0.673625792 is widely rolled out via Play Store.
