Film Industry Reforms Underway – FBC News

The government is implementing reforms to remove barriers that hinder the film industry’s participation in the economy.

In 2022, 66 productions were made in Fiji, creating 826 jobs and generating $113.83 million in new economic activity, with total local expenditure of $40.6 million.

Fiji has also hosted multiple seasons of the award-winning television show US Survivor and other Survivor series over the years.

The National Development Plan 2025–2029 and Vision 2050 emphasize the need to streamline processes by reviewing the existing regulatory framework and incentives.

To better assess the impact of the audiovisual industry on Fiji, the Government, in partnership with the Asian Development Bank, commissioned an economic study.

The aim of this study is to assess the multiplier effects on the economy, employment and growth and to recommend the necessary incentives to support the development of the AV industry.
