Bhupender Yadav says Centre will provide financial support to waste recycling startups – SME News

Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Saturday said the central government will provide financial support to waste recycling start-ups and will also focus on saving energy and water, as well as banning single-use plastic.

The minister was speaking after participating in a beach clean-up drive at Juhu Beach, which was held as part of International Coastal Clean-up Day.

“The central government will support start-ups in recycling. My ministry has issued guidelines for one-time financial support for such start-ups,” he said.

“We know how to use nature’s products, but we forget to recycle them and litter the beaches and roads. We will focus on saving energy, water, banning single-use plastic and stopping food wastage, promoting healthy lifestyle and disposal of e-waste,” Yadav said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the state is fortunate to have a 720-km coastline and keeping it clean will boost tourism.

He noted that the economy of many countries is based on tourism.

He added that the clean-up drive, which began on September 17 at Girgaum Chowpatty in south Mumbai, will continue till October 2.

Calling cleanliness a service, Shinde expressed happiness over the fact that citizens from across the state are participating in the drive in large numbers.

The CM said the deep cleaning drive initiated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) would be resumed after the monsoons, under which the roads would be cleaned with recycled water.

“Thanks to this acceleration, pollution has also reduced,” he added.

Talking to reporters later, CM Shinde said awareness about cleanliness has increased ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative.
