India vs Bangladesh Live Score: Rishabh Pant equals MS Dhoni's record

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant reached a significant milestone on the third day of the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai on Saturday. After an impressive performance in the second innings of the Duleep Trophy opener for India B, Pant continued his excellent form.

After a promising start in the first innings, scoring 39, Pant worked hard to reach his sixth Test century, which sent the crowd and the Indian team into a frenzy. With this achievement, Pant equalled legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni’s record for the most centuries by a designated wicketkeeper in Test cricket for India.

Dhoni, who played Test cricket from 2005 to 2014, has also scored six centuries in his career. Wriddhiman Saha equals them with three Test hundreds in 54 innings.

Throughout his time in the game, Pant relied heavily on aggressive play to pick up points on the placid surface of the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The Indian pair, along with Shubman Gill, controlled the game at will, forming a key partnership that scored 167 runs to help the hosts take a commanding position in the match.

Pant’s game featured a mixture of front-foot and back-foot play. He mostly played the back-foot technique against the spinners, which gave him time to pick the gaps and score runs effectively.
