DeAndra Larkin Named New CEO of YWCA of Greater Flint

FLINT, MI — YWCA Greater Flint has named DeAndra Larkin as the organization’s new CEO.

The YWCA of Greater Flint Board of Directors announced Larkin’s appointment as the organization’s CEO, effective Monday, September 23.

Larkin, a Flint native, brings extensive experience in leadership, operations and strategic development in the nonprofit, higher education, economic development and tourism sectors.

“I look forward to using my expertise to make a significant positive impact on the individuals and families served by the YWCA of Flint and Genesee County,” said Larkin. “I am committed to elevating the YWCA to a leadership position in the field of equality, ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of advocating for and supporting the rights and dignity of all individuals.”

Most recently, she served as Chief of Staff and Executive Director of Systems, Operations, and Strategy in the Office of the President at Mott Community College.

Prior to this position, Larkin held senior management positions at Flint & Genesee Group and was promoted to vice president in 2017.

Early in her career, Larkin gathered needed resources as development coordinator at Whaley’s Children Center.

In line with his values, Larkin is involved in community activities.

He currently serves on the Hurley Board of Directors, where he works to ensure the community has equitable access to high-quality healthcare.

As a board member of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, Larkin also served on the advisory committee of the Flint Women and Girls Fund, charged with ensuring equitable access to funding for nonprofit organizations providing critical resources to women and girls.

Her community service activities include membership in the Flint Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and membership in the Zonta Club of Flint Chapter of Zonta International, Flint.

Larkin holds a Master of Science in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Public Relations.

She has been recognized for her exemplary leadership and has received prestigious awards, including 40 Under 40 from the American Association of Women in Colleges and was named to the inaugural class of 40 Under 40 by Flint & Genesee Group.

“Throughout her career, Larkin has chosen to work and volunteer with organizations that focus on improving the lives of adults, children and families in the community,” said Sandra Murphy, YWCA board chair. “She has a proven track record, including managing financial operations and fostering partnerships with diverse stakeholders.”
