Billionaire Kerry Stokes and his son Ryan have been enjoying tremendous success for several years, but that’s not what you get from the headlines.

Father and son own 51% of Seven Group Holdings, a $17.2 billion conglomerate that owns construction materials company Boral, machinery supplier WesTrac and equipment rental company Coates. Seven Group also has a 30% stake in oil and gas company Beach Energy, worth $2.6 billion.
