JACKSON — Commissioners of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks went into executive session Wednesday for about 10 minutes. Acting commission attorney Doug Mann said the session was to discuss real estate.

MDWFP commissioners took no action, but Mann was able to announce that the agency is working to purchase property near the Marion County WMA. At this time, MDWFP was unable to disclose the cost or the square footage of the property it is considering.

Mann confirmed the purchase would expand the Marion County WMA. MDWFP has met several times over the past year to discuss potential property purchases, but was unable to say more.

MDWFP commissioners will meet again Oct. 24 at the agency’s headquarters in Jackson. Executive Director Lynn Posey said there will be some kind of educational session at 10 a.m., followed by a business session at 11 a.m.
