Winners announced at MEGATRANS event in Melbourne

The 2024 Mercury Awards winners were recently announced at MEGATRANS, Australia’s largest integrated logistics industry exhibition and conference.

The fair showcased cutting-edge technologies and services for the supply chain, from vehicle telematics and fleet management software to warehousing solutions.

On 18-19 September, hundreds of attendees descended on the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre to explore interactive exhibits, watch live demonstrations and talk to experts in their fields.

There was also a gala during which the Mercury Awards were presented, recognizing the achievements of companies in the logistics, supply chain and materials handling sectors.

Mercury Awards

Sustainability Initiative Award

Winner: CEVA Logistics

The Sustainability Initiative Award finalists were judged on the practicality of their program and how it stood out from other projects available in the industry.

CEVA Logistics, a global logistics and supply chain company offering both transport management and contract logistics, has been awarded for its Zero Waste to Landfill Australia project.

Best technology app

Winner: Skilled Material Handling

Finalists were judged on how their technology improved logistics and material handling efficiency and cost savings, as well as how it impacted environmental protection, production efficiency or safety.

Skilled Materials Handling, a Dandenong-based company that designs, manufactures and commissions bulk material handling equipment, received the award for its innovative diaphragm surge tank.

Freight Transport Solution of the Year

Winner: MachShip

For this award, finalists were judged on how their freight transport solution improves efficiency, traceability, cost savings or sustainability.

Melbourne-based MachShip was recognised for its time-saving transport management software, also called MachShip.

Supply Chain Innovator of the Year

Winner: Allotrac

Supply Chain Innovator of the Year finalists were judged on the contributions their company made to the supply chain industry, as well as their ability to showcase their project to the broader industry.

New South Wales software company Allotrac won the award for its AI assistant Allie, which it described as “the next step in transport management software”.

Winner: Dr Elsie Hooi, Senior Lecturer at RMIT University

MHD Sustainable Warehouse Award

Winner: Silk Logistics Holdings

The MHD Sustainable Warehouse Competition aims to recognise and promote pioneering warehouse operations across the country that are significantly reducing emissions and implementing sustainable practices.

Silk Logistics Holdings, a leading Australian logistics company providing integrated port-to-door services to some of the world’s most iconic brands, has been awarded for its sustainability efforts at its Kenwick 2 site.
