Indian stock indices hit record highs on Friday, posting weekly gains, helped by a significant interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve earlier this week that boosted investors’ risk appetite in global markets.

The NSE Nifty 50 index rose 1.48% to 25,790 and the S&P BSE Sensex index gained 1.63% to 84,544, posting a record close.

On Friday, the Sensex index exceeded 84,000 points for the first time in history.
