162 battles on the front lines in the last day, the hottest sectors: Pokrovsk and Kurakhov

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, publishing an operational update from 8:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23.

Yesterday, the enemy carried out two rocket attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements using four rockets, made 67 airstrikes, including 99 guided aerial bombs, and carried out 5,587 attacks, including 167 using MLRS rocket launchers.

Russian forces carried out air raids, in particular near the settlements of Esman, Bilovody, Zhuravka, Buvalyne, Yastrubszczyna, Ryczki, Buniakine, Volfyne, Kindratywka, Uhroiidy, Malushyne, Meliaczycha, Vowczanskie Khutory, Vowczansk, Kupiansk, Kupiansk-Vuzlovye, and Piershotrawneve.

Aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out eight attacks on enemy bases, hitting weapons and military equipment, two artillery systems, one air defense system and the command post of the Russian invaders.

In the Kharkov sector, the enemy continued assault operations. Seven combat engagements took place near Vovchanka and Tychy.

There were 16 clashes in the Kupiansky sector. Ukrainian forces repelled Russian attacks near Petropavlovka, Synkivka, Hlushkivka, Kruhliakivka, Lozova, and Stelmachivka.

In the Lyman region, Ukrainian forces repelled 13 Russian attacks near Makiivka, Nevsky, Bilhorivka, Cherneshchyna, Druzhelyubivka, Novosadovo, and Dibrov.

In the Siewierz sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled two attacks near Wyimka.

In the Kramatorski sector, the Ukrainians thwarted 12 attempts to break through the invaders’ defenses in the vicinity of Kałynivka, Klishchivka, Hryhorivka and Stupochka.

In the Toretsk sector, Russian forces, supported by aircraft, carried out nine attacks, concentrating their efforts near Dakhne, Toretsk, and Shcherbynovka. The enemy also attacked near Nelipivka.

In the Pokrovsk area, Ukrainian defenders repelled 35 attacks. The main enemy efforts were concentrated near Krasny Yar, Vozdvyzhenka, Novotoretsk, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, Selydovka, Marynivka, Myrolyubivka, and Mykhailovka.

In the Kurakhov sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russians near Hirnyk, Tsukuryne, Zhelanne Druhe, Heorhiivka, Katerynivka, and Kostiantynivka. In total, Russian forces have attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses in this sector 28 times.

In the Vremivka sector, the invaders carried out six attacks on Ukrainian positions near Vuhledar.

In the Orichiv sector, there were two unsuccessful enemy attacks near Robotyne.

In the Prydniprovsky sector the Russians carried out one unsuccessful attack and were repelled.

The Ukrainian defense forces continue operations in the Kursk region of Russia. According to the General Staff, the enemy has carried out 16 airstrikes over the past day, using 27 guided aerial bombs.

No signs of enemy offensive groups forming in the Volhynia and Polesie sectors were observed. The operational situation did not change significantly, the General Staff noted.

In the border areas of Chernihiv and Sumy regions, Russian forces maintain their military presence and intensify air operations. Bruski, Malushyne, Pavlivka, Zhuravka, Velyka Pysarivka, Boyaro-Lezhachi and a number of other border settlements were shelled from Russian territory.

According to Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian troops in Ukraine from February 24, 2022 to September 23, 2024 amount to about 643,750 soldiers, including 1,330 in the last 24 hours.
