This is India’s moment. You must seize the opportunity: Nvidia CEO after roundtable with PM Modi in US

The CEO of US tech giant Nvidia, who was attending a panel conference in New York hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said India is having its moment and all companies need to seize this opportunity.

Jensen Huang, CEO of artificial intelligence (AI) and accelerated computing company Nvidia, was among 15 technology industry leaders who attended a roundtable at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel on Sunday (local time). “This is India’s moment. We need to seize the opportunity,” Huang said.

Huang also noted that India is home to the world’s best computer scientists and Nvidia looks forward to working with India on new AI technology.

“India, as you know, is also home to some of the best computer scientists in the world. So it’s a great opportunity. AI is also a new industry, a new manufacturing industry that is very important, so I’m looking forward to deep collaboration with India to make that happen,” Huang said.

Sharing his impressions of the meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Huang emphasised that he enjoyed the meeting and called PM Modi an “amazing student” who is keen to learn about technology and AI to explore the opportunities it holds for India.

He said, “I have had the pleasure of meeting the Prime Minister in many meetings. He is an amazing learner and every time I see him he wants to learn about technology, AI, India’s potential and opportunities and the impact on India, society and industry. So I was delighted to be here and discuss this.”

He also added that India is the third largest country in terms of startups and to sustain the startup ecosystem, AI infrastructure is required.

“India is home to the third-largest startup economy, so this new generation of startups is all about AI, and to do that, you need to have the AI ​​infrastructure,” Huang said.

He also shared that every IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) has an Nvidia AI Center of Excellence where teachers teach students how to upskill themselves in this new world of AI. He said AI has democratized computing.
