Earth’s General Store in Edmonton Launches Fundraiser to Save Business

Edmonton’s Earth General Store is hoping to remain open despite previously announcing Sunday would be its last day of operations.

“We are excited to announce that we are officially moving from closing Earth’s General Store to saving it,” spokeswoman Rebecca MacLeod said Sunday.

“So many people have reached out to us, wanting to support, wanting to donate.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money to save the store.

A celebration is planned for Sunday to commemorate the store’s three decades of operation.

“In many ways it’s still a celebration of life, but it’s more of a rebirth of sorts,” MacLeod said.

“We really want to get the message out that we still have a chance to save the store and encourage people to donate to our GoFundMe page so we can reach that goal.”

As of 5:30 p.m. Sunday, $7,500 of the $150,000 goal had been raised.
