Paramount’s Pluto TV and French M6+ Strike Streaming Partnership

Pluto TV, Paramount Global’s free, ad-supported streaming service, and M6+, the new AVOD platform from French television company Groupe M6, have signed a strategic commercial and editorial partnership to “expand and expand their free streaming and digital activities in France.”

“In terms of editorial content, this unprecedented collaboration will mutually enrich the streaming platforms,” the companies said Tuesday. “M6+ users will find 12 channels of Pluto TV content, with almost 3,000 hours of content from the platform’s iconic franchises, such as Just Tattoo of Us, Alerte à Malibu, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Blue Bloods, Olive et Tom, MTV Classics, as well as channels dedicated to films, series and animations. “Pluto TV users will benefit from emblematic brands of the French audiovisual landscape, with six channels of M6 content, representing 2,000 hours of content,” including Zone Interdite, Turbo, Les reines du shopping and Les Marseillais.

As part of the agreement, M6 will also become an advertising partner of Pluto TV, which will enable M6 Publicité to sell the entire Pluto TV inventory in France as part of its Pluto TV portfolio and content available on M6+. Paramount Advertising in France will sell the Pluto TV inventory in the market alongside M6’s advertising team.

“The free ad-supported streaming industry is growing internationally. As a leader in this space, we understand the value of partnering with key local players, especially in competitive markets like France. Building on our successful partnerships in multiple markets, we are now expanding our FAST business with M6,” said Olivier Jollet, Executive Vice President and International General Manager at Pluto TV. “M6 stands out as the ideal partner, offering a powerful platform, beloved content, a large consumer base and strong ad sales experience. By combining their strong presence in France with our FAST capabilities, we aim to create a dynamic and innovative model for the industry and consumers in France, as well as a model for other markets.”

Henri de Fontaines, Groupe M6 Board Member responsible for Strategy, Transformation and Development, added: “As a pioneer of digital television in France, Groupe M6 is accelerating its transformation with the ambitious M6+ plan in response to the growing digital consumption of our content. Our AVOD platform, which was successfully launched in May 2024 with the Group’s catalogue of iconic brands, is also the main destination for the best global audiovisual franchises. We are excited about our ambitious partnership with Pluto TV, which allows us to offer our users even more must-see content. Given the significant growth of free-to-air advertising-supported television, we see this partnership as an opportunity to work with a key player and we hope that it will grow over time.”

M6+ previously partnered with Konbini and Hayu, NBCUniversal’s reality TV streaming channel.

“Following transformational partnerships with Corus in Canada and Viaplay in the Nordics, Pluto TV continues to innovate, enriching content for fans and creating new opportunities for customers,” the Paramount streamer said
