Another difficulty arrived Thursday in Haason Reddick’s current situation with the New York Jets.

The Pro Bowl passer’s agents at Creative Artists Agency parted ways with him amid a contract rift that dates back to the start of training camp, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

By NFL Network’s Mike GarafoloCAA attempted to negotiate an extension with the Jets while Reddick himself got involved, leading to a breakup over “philosophical differences.” This isn’t surprising given how bad the last few months have gone for anyone hoping to see Reddick play in a Jets uniform.

The Jets traded for Reddick in March in hopes he could bolster a defense that was tied for seventh in the NFL in statistics and fifth in pressure rate. Only TJ Watt, Myles Garrett and Trey Hendrickson had more sacks in the previous four seasons than Reddick’s 50.5, who reached double figures in each of those seasons.

Importantly, the Jets completed this trade with the Philadelphia Eagles without an agreement being reached for a contract extension. Reddick was set to hit free agency after this season. With no deal in place, Reddick opted out of training camp, then requested a trade from a team that had acquired him months earlier. The Jets declined the request.

As Reddick’s resistance now extends into the regular season, he has reportedly lost more than $5 million in fines levied by the NFL and lost more than $4 million in lost game checks. He has a base salary of $14.25 million this season, according to Spotrac.

The situation was getting ugly enough that Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers lashed out at Reddick’s agents last month, while complaining about an article describing the Jets as being in “complete disarray.” Turns out Reddick’s agents weren’t happy either.
