THE CHOSEN creator Dallas Jenkins has several new projects in the works with his new production company, 5&2 Studios.

“The new independent studio…will now oversee production of THE CHOSEN, as well as a future slate of film and television projects set in the biblical world,” reads the press release.

“Every time I meet with viewers, they say something about wanting more biblical content from us. I always say we shouldn’t be too forward-thinking and stay focused, but we have a strong enough team now to expand our efforts,” said Jenkins, President and Chief Creative Officer of 5&2 Studios and creator and executive producer of THE CHOSEN. “I’m so excited to be taking our ‘chosen path’ to more great stories from the Bible, and it’s great to be the first to share this with the fans who helped get us here long before we were famous.”

Jenkins made the announcement at ChosenCon, a gathering of over 5,000 fans in Orlando that took place September 20-21.

5&2 Studios currently has several projects in development: THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES, THE CHOSEN IN THE WILD WITH BEAR GRYLLS, a 3-season series telling the story of Moses, an 8-episode series telling the story of Joseph, and a sequel series to THE CHOSEN titled ACTS OF THE APOSTLES.

“THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES follows 9-year-old Abby in the Galilean city of Capernaum, circa 30 A.D. Curious young Abby is bursting at the seams with questions and feels like she doesn’t have the answers she seeks. Will everything change when she and her best friend, Joshua, meet Jesus? The 14-episode animated series features the voice talents of Emmy® winner Paul Walter Hauser (BLACK BIRD, I, TONYA), Emmy® nominee Yvonne Orji (INSECURE) and two-time GRAMMY® nominated artist Jordin Sparks, as well as members of THE CHOSEN cast including Jonathan Roumi, Paras Patel, Elizabeth Tabish, Noah James, Joey Vahedi, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Brandon Potter and George H. Xanthis,” reads the press release.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Paul, Yvonne and Jordin to THE CHOSEN family as we continue to produce more amazing content for our fans,” said Ryan Swanson, creator/executive producer of THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES and executive producer of THE CHOSEN. “We were surprised and encouraged to discover that kids watch THE CHOSEN with their parents, so we wanted to continue that family viewing experience by creating an animated series filled with humor, heartfelt life lessons and lovable characters.”

THE CHOSEN IN THE WILD WITH BEAR GRYLLS is a six-part, unscripted adventure. Grylls will take one cast member into the wilderness in each episode, exploring their personal stories and perspectives on the character they play in THE CHOSEN.

“This series allows viewers to discover the real people behind the phenomenal series THE CHOSEN. Wild opens people up in a way nothing else does, challenging us to dig deep and find our true selves. This adventure series pushes the cast of THE CHOSEN like never before, while also exploring their own personal stories of life and faith. That’s the magic of this new series, bringing new insight and revelation to some of the most beloved and watched characters on television,” Grylls said.

Movieguide® previously awarded Jonathan Rouma, who plays Jesus in THE CHOSEN, the Grace Prize® for Most Inspiring Television Performance. Several episodes of THE CHOSEN also received Teddy Bear Awards®.

Earlier this year, The Chosen LLC and Angel Studios ended their production partnership, and an arbitrator awarded Jenkins oversight of the series.

Movieguide® recently published a report on the filming of season 5 of THE CHOSEN:

Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, shared his memories of filming the fifth season and his expectations for the final two seasons.

“When I left the house for the last time before we started shooting in Utah in April, I looked around and thought, ‘The next time I see this place, I’m going to finish (filming) The Last Supper in the Garden of Olives.’ I was filled with emotion because it meant the journey was almost over,” Roumie told the “Pints With Aquinas” podcast.

THE CHOSEN was picked up by the CW and aired the first episode of its fourth season this month. Jenkins said that while he’s thrilled that his series has been picked up by a major network, he’s more excited about the spiritual impact the groundbreaking show will have by reaching people who might not otherwise see it.
