MGM+ Orders ‘Robin Hood’ Drama Series From Lionsgate

MGM+ has ordered a new Robin Hood drama to be directed and produced by Jonathan English.

Todd Liebermann of Hidden Pictures will executive produce the new Lionsgate Television series about the classic crime hero. Robin Hood Production is set to begin in Serbia at PFI Studios in early 2025, with the film set to debut on MGM+ late next year.

Glenn and English are also serving as writers and executive producers, while Carly Kleinbart and Nicole Bryant will oversee the series for Hidden Pictures. The MGM+ series is also set to feature a love story between Robin Hood and Marian.

“This is an intelligent, sweeping, romantic adventure that brings historical authenticity, psychological depth and a heightened focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian to a beloved story. In the wake of the Norman invasion of England, Rob, the son of a Saxon forester, and Marian, the daughter of a Norman lord, fall in love and fight together for justice and freedom. When Rob becomes the leader of a band of rebels, Marian infiltrates the court as the two work together to thwart royal corruption and bring peace to the land,” the show’s producers say in a synopsis.

Robin Hood will also be available to MGM+ viewers in the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Latin America, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

“John and Jonathan bring epic scale and deeply resonant storytelling to this fresh take on Robin Hood. We look forward to working with MGM+ and Todd to bring the legendary story of Robin Hood to modern audiences,” Jocelyn Sabo, senior vice president of scripted television development at Lionsgate, said in a statement.

Glenn is repped by CAA and Entertainment 360, and English and Hidden Pictures are repped by CAA.
