Govee Launches Curtain Lights 2 Just in Time for the Holidays – Project GIFs, Photos and Colour Effects onto Any Wall

Govee has just launched its second generation of Curtain Lights to spice up your smart home. You can fully customize all ten layers of this canvas with colors or use it to display still images and GIFs. Since the strings are IP65 waterproof, they can set the mood indoors or out, and can even be placed outside in places like a porch.

This lighting system produces sharp, colorful pixel images and GIFs without a solid background. Instead, it relies on 520 bead lights, each with a resolution of 20×26 pixels, to create smooth animations and shapes. It also displays GIFs up to 200 KB, compared to the meager 6 KB of its predecessor.

One feature I think is missing is the ability to mirror your computer screen onto a wall, like the Twinkly Curtain Lights it competes with. It’s a great way to extend the virtual worlds behind your screen for greater immersion. That said, the Govee Pixels will still draw you in. There are over 207 pre-made scenes in the app, but you can easily create your own patterns and images. Govee’s AI speeds things up by letting you type or speak commands to generate a lighting scheme based on what you can imagine.

Curtain Lights 2 hang using the included lightweight plastic hooks and self-adhesive backing, so you can set them up and hang them without tangling any of your light chains.
