Australia stuck in self-driving car slow lane

In August, U.S. authorities approved Waymo’s robotaxi fleet to expand its operating zones to include urban highways for the first time, debuting in San Francisco and Phoenix.

Self-driving cars are spreading rapidly in the US and China, but not here: Australian authorities are not yet convinced that the vehicles are completely safe. It is time to catch up – automation not only makes transport more efficient, but can also reduce road accidents.
