Restaurants can now create their own mobile apps with DoorDash.

Customizable, branded apps will allow customers to order and pay, with orders displayed on the restaurant’s tablet or POS system. The apps will integrate with loyalty programs and allow restaurants to send push notifications and promotions.

It’s part of the delivery company’s new commerce platform, DoorDash’s suite of new and existing products for restaurants.

In addition to the mobile apps, new features on the platform include:

  • Phone Orders: Restaurants can route phone orders to a customer service call center, AI voice bot, or automated message.

  • Customer Service Solutions: A customer service hotline to help resolve order issues and other issues on behalf of the restaurant.

DoorDash’s website indicates that these products are still in development, but invites restaurants to sign up for updates.

Existing products are:

  • Online Ordering (formerly Storefront): Online ordering software. Restaurants pay a 2.9% order processing fee plus 30 cents.

  • Drive On-Demand (formerly DoorDash Drive): Allows restaurants to offer delivery through their own website/app, with orders fulfilled by DoorDash drivers. Restaurants pay a flat fee of $6.99 to $10.99 per order.

  • Tableside Order & Pay (formerly Bbot): Lets customers order and pay on-site by scanning a QR code. Costs $50 per month, plus a 2.9% payment processing fee plus 30 cents.

The Commerce platform is designed to help operators increase sales and profits through their own channels, the company said. Restaurants can choose the tools they want in an a la carte style.

The platform continues DoorDash’s evolution of transforming its third-party marketplace and delivery service into a comprehensive solution for restaurants’ digital ordering needs.

“Our mission has always been to create products and services that help local merchants succeed,” DoorDash President and COO Prabir Adarkar said in a statement.

Also Wednesday, DoorDash announced updates to its Business Manager app for restaurants. The app debuted in 2021 and lets operators track DoorDash business from their phones.

New features include quick access to payouts and sales tracking; marketing campaign management and reporting; and a personalized homepage feed with recommended actions from DoorDash. Updates are based on restaurant reviews.
